OpenAI is a research lab and company dedicated to developing artificial intelligence (AI) for the benefit of people. OpenAI, which was founded in December 2015 by a number of people including Elon Musk, Sam Altman, Greg Brockman, Ilya Sutskever, Wojciech Zaremba, and John Schulman, among others.
OpenAI works on a number of AI fields, including computer vision, reinforcement learning, and natural language processing.
Interestingly, they have developed complex language models like the GPT series, which includes the GPT-3 and GPT-4.

Elon musk indicated that Openai has been turned into a closed source program which prevents anyone from gaining access to the codes, this stands against the foundation on which the program was structured.
He also noted that that openai is developing AGI (Artificial General Intelligence) to maximize profits for Microsoft, rather than for the benefit of humanity which is contrary to the founding agreement.

However, many organizations and researchers are still working toward the difficult and hard task of producing AGI.
Openai was crafted as a non profit structure which automatically changes if microsoft becomes a proprietary technology.
