The Entire management, staff and students of obafemi Awolowo university ile-ife in osun state Nigeria experienced an unexpected tragic event that took the life of mr olabode olawuyi OAU university veterinary technologist who has been in charge of the school's zoological garden for over 10 years.
Mr olabode olawuyi has been in charge if the Obafemi Awolowo university (OAU) zoological garden for more than a decade tending to its wild animals.
Mr olabode was attacked by nine year old male lion on February 19th, 2024 when he was feeding them in their den at the university garden.
Each witness has described this tragic event in a way they seem to have seen it play out, some people reported that mr olabode came in to rescue his female colleague who was attacked by this male lion and could not save himself after successfully saving the lady who was initially attacked.
Others have said that the inner latch was unlocked by the staff who went off duty before mr olabode took over, while this stories may contravene each other slightly the end results seem to be the same with a woman attacked, and mr Olabode loosing his life to a lion he fed and watched grow, wild animals will always remain wild i guess.

Official reports from the university public relations officer on social media page on X formerly called twitter states that mr olabode was attacked at noon on Wednesday.
He also stated that other staff members who were at the scene of the incident did everything to recue their boss but the casualties were already too severe.
The vice chancellor professor Adebayo simeon Bamire and the Acting health medical centre director Tirimisiyu olatunji aided in with first aid to save his life but all efforts proved inefficient.
The 9 year old aggressive male lion was later Euthanized (to put an animal to death humanely) due to this tragic event.
The identity of the woman who was injured is yet to be revealed, she is said to be in the hospital receiving treatment.
The vice chancellor of the university has ordered further comprehensive investigations into this sad event to reveal what may have caused it.
The university has also sent out a delegation to visit the widow and children of the OAU university veterinary technologist sympathizing with them to take solace in God who gives and take life.
