Muric muslims threatens nancy isime over new Upcoming movie images, ask nfvcb to cancel

Nancy isime and Muric

Nancy isime has been called out repeatedly by Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) after she released some images of her upcoming movie. She was seen in the pictures wearing a hijab (Many Muslim women wear a headscarf, as part of their modest dress in observance of Islamic law) and a Niqab (A niqab, or full face veil, is worn by some Muslim women to cover their entire face and reveal just their eyes. It is typical to wear it with a headscarf or hijab, which covers the shoulders, neck, and hair.)

Nancy isime has been threatened and called out by so many Nigerian muslims, including the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) for depicting a woman carrying gun and likely in a robbery scene wearing the Hijab and Niqab in the movie image.

A Nigerian muslim user reacted to the images posted by nancy isime, indicating that the hijab and niqab were not appropriately represented, using it as a costume for unspeakable things, she also went further to state that the nollywood actress has disrespected her and the muslim religion.

While venting in the video, the muslim lady said that the hijab and niqab are symbols of decency to the muslim women, she went further to claim that the hardship, hate and tribal war between nigerians was too much already to add a religious war.

The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) in a press statement on July 25th, 2024 has labelled the movie “Anti-Muslim” according to the Muric group the film depicts women in purdah stealing from banks, using deadly weapons, and engaging in other criminal activities. For this reason, the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has demanded that the movie be banned right away. According to the group, it incites the public against Muslim women and portrays them as criminals.

The Full press statement reads:

“An extremely anti-Muslim film has been released into the Nigerian movie industry. The upcoming film which was recently unveiled by Nancy Isime shows women in purdah brandishing dangerous weapons and robbing banks. It is Islamophobia taken to the highest level. This film is satanic, repugnant and provocative.

“It is aimed at portraying Muslim women as criminals with a violent proclivity. The film is capable of inciting the public against Muslim women. It may also expose Muslims in general to public ridicule and opprobrium.

“We believe that the film is the handiwork of Muslim-haters and part of the plot to stop Muslim women from wearing hijab and niqab. The plot was hatched a long time ago and its execution began in the schools.

This plot was boldly and diligently confronted in Nigerian courts by Muslims until the highest court in the land made a pronouncement on it. This Satanic film is the latest effort in the war against hijab.

“This hate film is capable of setting Nigeria on fire if urgent action is not taken by the relevant authorities. We therefore call on the National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB) to investigate and place an immediate ban on the coming film.

“To Nigerian Muslims who have inundated our communication channels with the video clips, voice notes and other types of messages, we have this to say: please remain calm and peaceful. You have spoken loud and clear. We have received your messages and action is being taken right now.

Our religion brought a message of hope and peace to the world. We will not allow anyone to paint our women, our mothers, our wives, our daughters and sisters in the colours of Shaytan. Be good ambassadors of Islam. Don’t take the law into your hands. Allow the authorities to take necessary action.”

This statement was issued by the Executive Director of the Muslim Rights Concern, Professor Ishaq Akintola.

The National Film And Video Censors Board (NFVCB) has indicated that all complaints made will be addressed as soon as possible. This was made known to the public by the Executive Director of NFVCB, Mr Husseini Shaibu.
