Not much information about the partnership was released but billboards.com reported october 2023 that mavin records was seeking an investment sale between $125-$150 million for partnership and $200 million for outright sale last year with Universal music group as top bidders.
Mavin records has recorded major Afrobeats awards with its artists like rema, Ayra starr, ladipoe, crayon, Jonny drille and others. The deal is set to be completed in the third quarter of the year 2024 pending regulatory approval.
As part of the partnership Michael Collins Ajereh known as Don jazzy is to remain the CEO of mavin records while Tega Oghenejobo will continue to head the label.
The investment aims to fuel Mavin’s global expansion, as stated in a press release. It will primarily support Mavin’s Artist Academy, dedicated to developing musical and performance talents, and its executive leadership team, focused on cultivating future African leaders in the music industry.
